Dentist Disabled By Bilateral Ulnar Nerve Palsy And Cervical Radiculopathy
Our client, a dentist, was injured in an automobile accident causing bilateral ulnar nerve palsy, intersection syndrome, and cervical radiculopathy. Client sought physical therapy as well as chiropractic treatment and continued to work but on a reduced schedule. He experienced intermittent numbness in his left hand and upper thoracic pain while working.
This did not resolve and client’s condition worsened with loss of dexterity, resulting, in addition to other problems, in his occasionally dropping dental instruments. The insurer originally paid the claim on the basis of residual benefits but following an IME it reevaluated the claim and terminated benefits on the basis that its IME doctor could find no basis to support the problems reported
